NEWSLETTER JUNE 2016

Welcome back to school everyone!

The new academic year 2016-2017 began as per the schedule on June 9.  Excitement refilled the air on these days after the Summer Vacation. The classrooms were decorated by the teachers to welcome the kids. Children arrived in school, all geared up and enthused. Some seemed apprehensive about the new classrooms, peer and new teachers. Others, just too excited, eager to explore and learn.  Teachers welcomed each one of them with open arms and warm hearts. Students were excited to meet their teachers and friends and the buzz continued with the distribution of uniforms, books and ID cards. The students quickly geared to learn new concepts and valuable experiences as the teachers started the classes with renewed enthusiasm.

Orientation programmes for the parents were held from June 11, 2016 to June 22, 2016 for various classes from Nursery to class XII .The Parents were addressed by the Principal who warmly welcomed them and shared the happiness of the excellent performance of the students in the Board Exams. The Parents were extremely happy about the School winning the ‘International School Award’ By British Council. The Principal also briefed the parents about the general system of functioning of the School and various external exams like Olympiad, Asset exams etc. to be held this year. This was followed by a short introduction of the team of teachers. The subject teachers explained the evaluation criteria of their subjects. They also informed the parents about the formatives and Summatives. The teachers also clarified the queries and doubts raised by the parents. The programme concluded by selecting the PTA members for the new academic session.

We also began with the club activities in the second week of June. The IT and the Quiz club are the new additions to the club activities this year. Inter-house competitions also began in full swing from the 22nd of June.

The staff participated in professional development trainings and workshops in the first week of June. A series of workshops- CCE Capacity Building, Image Enhancement, Methods of teaching, Phonics training, Total Quality Management, Design Thinking and ISO awareness were organized to enhance their skills. Each workshop was conducted by renowned Resource persons with the aim of providing enriching experience to the staff. The school is yet to unfold many more such workshops for the students, parent s and the teachers in the coming months.

As we embark upon another school year, we are eager to continue to grow and to help our children develop the skills to become successful global citizens. A warm welcome is especially extended to all the new students and their families at Birla School this year. We are very much looking forward to sharing an exciting and rewarding year with you and your child.

Best wishes for a successful 2016-17 school year!
