Investiture Ceremony: Birla School, Kalyan celebrated its 19th Investiture Ceremony on 16th July 2016. Mr. Apurva Gupta, Joint President-Century Rayon presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest. 

The investiture ceremony is one of the most important ceremonies wherein leaders are vested upon their powers to lead the baton of the school. The newly elected and selected senate was conferred with their powers by the Chief Guest, Mr. Apurva Gupta. The parents of the elected captains proudly witnessed the ceremony as the students were bestowed with their powers and positions and undertook the oath to fulfill the goal set by the founders of the school. The memoirs of the school were recounted by the students of Class XI.

The program concluded with the spirit and enthusiasm to embark upon the journey of leadership.

 

Sangeet Sarita: The Fourth Annual Musical event for the staff-Sangeet Sarita was conducted on 22nd July 2016. The show provided the teachers a platform to showcase their singing abilities and an opportunity to celebrate togetherness. The Musical extravaganza opened with a melodious medley put together by the talented teachers. It was presided by Mrs. Santosh Chitlange, President of Cenray Mahila Pragati and Mr. O.R. Chitlange, Chairman Birla School.

 

The programme was a beautiful blend of the nostalgic golden era and the foot-tapping contemporary music. The programme ended on a high note for both the performers as well as the cheering audience who rejoiced the vivacious atmosphere. 

Workshops and Trainings: The school extends its support to the teachers through training programmes and workshops. Teachers participated in two workshops in the month of July to meet this aim. 

The ‘Teachers Training Weekend Workshop’ organized by Dr. Fabian Almeida, a renowned psychiatrist, counselor and motivator was conducted at Lonavla. Mrs. Gopa Ghosh, Ms. Laxmi Singh and Ms. Chetna Khatri from our school actively participated in this workshop on the 2nd and 3rd of July. The training started with a personality development programme for the teachers conducted by Ms. Linda Dhakul, a Psychology professor from St. Xavier’s College. The programme enlightened the teachers with issues like ‘School refusal’. It also included a session on psychotherapy conducted by Dr. Richa Bhargava, an experienced psychiatrist. The two days enriching training session concluded with a valedictory function. 

The second workshop was on ‘Inclusive Education’ organized by CBSE/COE Pune guided by Asst. Professor Arunima Majumdar. The workshop took place at Lexicon International School Wagholi, Pune on the 18th and 19th of July 2016. The Resource person for the training program was Dr. Smita Desai – CEO of Drishti, an Institution that caters to the educational needs of the main stream school as well as the special school. Our school counselors had the privilege to take part in the workshop and enhance their skills in dealing with the educational needs of a special child.     

 Blue Day Celebration: In our beautiful world of colours, Pre-Primary Learners celebrated Blue Day on July 29, 2016, with lot of enthusiasm.  The entire corridor was decorated with clouds and raindrops hanging from the ceiling giving the perfect rainy day look.  The classrooms and the bulletin boards were beautified with blue-coloured objects. 

To enhance the joy of the day, teachers and children were dressed in different shades of blue. Students carried into their class a blue object.  Having prepared a few lines, they happily shared it with each other.  Children enjoyed activities like making a paper boat, aquarium made of paper plates with fingerprint fish on it.  Children also enjoyed making the takeaways of a cloud stick puppet and an umbrella made of paper and straw.   

A small event was also organized by the teachers on this day for the children comprising of a power point presentation and a skit showing types of rainy wears, rainy food and rainy creatures. In the end, the students with the teachers danced to the tunes of rainy songs. 

Oral Hygiene Workshop: A workshop on Oral Hygiene was conducted for the students of class IV on 9th July, 2016 by Dr. Pratiksha Rawat, parent of Anusha Rawat of Class VC. Students were briefed about the ways to ensure oral hygiene and its importance. 

Tree Plantation Drive: On the occasion of World Environment Day, students of the Gardening and Nature Club participated in a Tree Plantation Drive where saplings were planted by them in the school campus.
