Newsletter for October 2016 

Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations-

Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. This day, we pay our humble tribute to the Great Mahatma and Lal Bahadur Shastriji. . The guest of honour was Smt. Santoshji Chitlange The day was celebrated with songs, dances, skit and speeches on the life and teachings of the Mahatma. Bhajans were presented by a student’s group and a teacher’s group. This was followed by Sarvadharma Prarthna by a group of students. Teachers presented a skit depicting Gandhiji’s ideology. The celebrations culminated with a presentation on Gandhiji’s life and effect of his teachings by the student of class XI. 

Joy of giving week

Joy of giving week was celebrated from 2nd to 8th October. Students were informed to bring their toys, books, clothes, etc., to be donated to the needy. Children from the pre-primary to the secondary contributed generously to this noble deed. On 13th October 2016, teachers arranged lunch for the supporting staff of the school. The students were happy to serve the food prepared by the staff members to the support staff. The joy on the faces of our supporting staff was priceless!

  Picnic

It was that time of the year which students anxiously wait for-picnic time. Buses were arranged, all the necessary preparations were done. Pre-primary and Primary children were taken to Tikuji-ni-Wadi. Std. VI to VIII to Suraj Water Park, Std. IX to XI to Adlabs Imagica and Std. XII to Water Kingdom. The enjoyment began with the bus ride with children singing songs. Children had lot of fun on various rides. It was indeed a joyful and totally relaxing day for the students.  

Class Presentations

Class presentations were organized for the primary classes, Std. I to V from 17th to 21st October. Class presentations were initiated for providing the opportunity for all the students of the primary section to display their skills on the stage. This was our third year of Class presentations. This year’s presentations also saw a range of talent by the student displaying their singing, dancing, acting, and anchoring skills. Parents were pleasantly surprised to see their ward perform on the stage with poise and confidence.

  Dance Competition

Dance competition for Jr. KG was conducted on October 3rd and 4th. The blooming buds were thrilled to be a part of this vibrant and energising event. It was a brilliant mixture of dance styles. The colourful costumes, marvellous choreography and excellent coordination was breathtaking and a bright sight to watch.  Children swayed and tapped to the melodious tunes.  

Fancy Dress Competition

Fancy dress competition was conducted on October 8, 2016, and October 22, 2016, for the Sr. KG students. The purpose of conducting this competition was not only to blend learning with fun but also to develop confidence in students by giving them an opportunity to overcome the stage fear. Children dressed up in their colourful costumes, spoke a few sentences on the Storybook Characters they portrayed. The judges were very pleased to see the performances of the children.  The competition proved to be great learning experience for the students and gave them a platform to explore.

Navratri and Dussehra Celebrations

The onset of October heralded the festive fervour and cultural gaiety attached to the celebration of Dussehra. Dussehra was celebrated on October 10, 2016, by the Pre-Primary Section.  Children and teachers were dressed in traditional attire. The classrooms and the corridors were decorated depicting the festival of Dussehra. A skit was put up by the teachers to tell them the significance of this festival and it beautifully brought out the message “Good always prevails over evil.” The skit was thoroughly enjoyed by the students. They all played dandiya, danced together, and enjoyed the festival.This year, we also organised dandiya night for the parents, students and staff members on the 8th of October. The school building was decorated with lights to bring in the festive fervour. Children, staff members and parents dressed up in colourful traditional attire infused more vibrancy to the celebrations. There were eateries arranged which served kulfis, cold drinks, panipuris and biriyanis. After seeking blessing from Goddess Durga, all of them danced to the dandiya tunes and had a wonderful time. 

Recitation Competition 

Recitation can be a lot of fun besides helping to build skill and confidence. We conducted Recitation Competition on October 20, 2016, for the pre-primary students.  The participants showed their confidence, expression and talent by reciting their poems on the theme “Nature”. The judges appreciated and applauded the students for the efforts and confidence they delivered on stage.

 Diwali Celebrations 

Sparkling and rejoicing in the festive mood, the students of Pre-Primary gloried in the celebration of Diwali on October 21, 2016.  Children were dressed in traditional attires.  Classrooms and corridors were decorated with lanterns and diyas.  The view was mesmerizing when the Tiny Tots with their tender feet rejoiced in the celebration.  Children shared the sweets with their friends, teachers and supporting staff.  The importance of “Say No To Crackers” was also explained on this occasion. It was a momentous moment with children going back home delighted with the collage work on Diya which they made for their parents as a gift for Diwali. Students of Std.VI decorated the Library corridor area with rangoli and Std.V students made lanterns and hung it in their classrooms and diya painting which were displayed in the activity hall for the Diwali celebrations and pooja.

Art teachers COLLAGE COMPETITION- Our art teachers Miss Bhakti Joshi, Mr. Narayan More and Mr. Satish Mane won the First place in the teachers’ collage competition conducted at St. Teresa School, Dombivli for Mindscape 2016 on October 5, 2016.
 Ø Mr. Shakti Singh from Hindi Department presented a paper on “Kamleshwar ke Katha Saahitya main: Samaaj aur Sanskriti” at the National Seminar conducted by B.N.N. college, Bhiwandi on 15th October, 2016.
